SHOT Show 2009 – Live Reports – Pre-show report
Over the next five days, I’ll try to bring you regular updates and reports from the 2009 SHOT Show. Stay tuned!
It seems like 2009 is off to a chaotic start for a lot of people this year. In my own life, there’s a lot out of order and stress is relatively high… especially for someone like me who doesn’t admit a lot of stress. But apparently I’m not the only one fighting for a semblance of control.
As many HogBlog readers are aware, I am heading to Orlando, FL for the 2009 SHOT Show.
On this trip I was planning to be joined by Jesse’s Hunting and Outdoors (JHO) Journal ProStaffer and blogger, Holly Heyser. Unfortunately, Holly came down with appendicitis and had to have an emergency appendectomy. That took her off the roster for the show, and probably for the remainder of her waterfowl season as well. That was a bummer, because she’s a lot of fun to hang out with, and brings a very different perspective to SHOT.
I was also supposed to be accompanied by “Jesse” James, owner/operator of Jesse’s Hunting and Outdoors (I’m the editor of the JHO Journal, and would be attending the show primarily in that capacity). Anyway, Jesse called as I was sitting at the airport to let me know he was pulling out as well. He usually spends most of the show shooting video, but something went wrong with his camera at the last minute. Unable to video the event, he didn’t see much point in the expense of flying all the way to Orlando, so he opted out.
So then there was one…
I’ve attended the SHOT Show solo in the past, and it’s a daunting task to bring back any kind of comprehensive report. There’s just too much for one person to cover. Fortunately, I have learned to focus my attention on specific topics. That keeps me from going crazy trying to see everything, but it means that you readers may not get quite the wide-spanning report I’d hoped to bring.
I’ll do what I can, though. If you have questions about new products or industry rumors, please feel free to post them up and I’ll see if I can find the answers for you. I’m making no promises, of course, but the whole idea is to provide you, the readers, with information that YOU want. So don’t be shy… post ‘em up!
