The Latest Adam Henry Award Goes To…
It’s a tie! Unfortunately, since they’re both minors I can’t publish their names (I would publish them anyway if I had them).
Our two award winners get the prize for a two month rampage in the Sutter Buttes area of northern California, during which time they killed at least 13 deer, including does and fawns, along with a string of other wildlife including at least one turkey vulture, coyotes, racoons, and lord knows what else. The two were convicted and sentenced last week, according to the latest article from the Sacramento Bee. Read the article, and let me know… did the punishment fit the crime?
At the very least, I think you’ll agree that these two fellas definitely deserve the full honor of becoming the second (and third) recipients of the Hog Blog Adam Henry Award!
Adam Henry (A.H.) – Commonly used police radio code for “asshole”.

I already said this on a forum, but these little turds should have their hunting licenses suspended for life. If you’re that stupid now, chances are you won’t get a whole lot brighter. As much as we want to see the numbers of hunters grow, we’re better off without these punks.
If I were my dear old late dad, I’d say shoot ‘em in the knees and let ‘em rot in the field, but I’m a kinder gentler Heyser.

I’m amazed every day for what I
learn. That’s me.
These here fellas would do well
going to work for the Fish and Game department. Their crimes will become evident to them after some satisfactory jail time served with a follow-up tenure of employment (no-pay).
Oh, too harsh? They are too old
to get a foot in the ass, I guess, so
sit in jail, where you belong until
you figure it out. Remorse would do,
huh? If need be, look it up young lads and come join the fun.
P.S. I’d love to know the A.H. award’s inception policies, well,
maybe not.

I agree with Holly, suspend their licenses for life. If you have that much disrespect for the traditions of hunting and the sacredness of taking a life now, you’re not going to ever learn respect.

Just a thought, and not really original…
Does suspending the hunting license of poachers, people who already show no respect for the rules or licenses, really serve as any kind of deterrent or penalty for the crime?

These kids have already committed the crime, so this isn’t about deterrence; it’s about punishment.
Besides, I don’t think there are sufficient deterrents for people who are disturbed – and this crime struck me as the act of kids who were somewhat disturbed.
A lifetime ban makes a statement: Society doesn’t believe you can ever be ethical hunters. You may go out and hunt again, but never, ever with our blessing.
Revoking their licenses until their 21, on the other hand, says, “Aw shucks, you’re just kids.”
And for the sane, I actually think this is plenty of deterrent. Plenty of ethical hunters are very careful about the rules because they know penalties are severe.
