Gearing Up For a Big One

    Hunting trip, that is…

Next week at this time I’ll be rolling out the door, eastbound and down, headed for Colorado to do what I’ve never done.   No, I’m not gonna smuggle a truckload of beer, I’m gonna try to make my first archery kill on an elk.  I’ve taken two of the big boys with the rifle so far, but never even thought I’d be going after them with a bow.

Anyway, why write about this now?  Because in my absence the HogBlog may get a little sporadic.  There’s no Internet connection where I’ll be for almost 10 days.  I know, I know… how will you, faithful reader, ever survive?

Well, that’s one of the reasons I’m soliciting hunting pictures and stories.  I’d like to post up adventures from various readers (that’s ya’ll) while I’m gone… sort of like guest blogging.  I’ve received a couple so far, and look forward to a couple more.  I’d prefer hog hunting tales and photos, but a good hunting story transcends the species.  You don’t need to write a whole epic about the hunt or incident.  A couple of lines to describe who, where, when, what, why, and how are fine.

Otherwise, who knows what I’ll leave behind? Lots of bloggers like to write and stockpile a bunch of posts in advance, but me, I kinda fly by the seat of my pants and never know what I’m gonna write until I start.  The downside is, I don’t have a quiver full of stuff to entertain, titillate, or consternate you all in my absence.

I hate the idea of dead air, so never fear, there’ll be something on here while I’m gone.  But wouldn’t it be cool if it were YOU?

I would LOVE to get a chance to shoot an elk with my bow. My would that be cool. Good luck and I hope you smoke one! I wish I had a fun pic to submit, but I really don’t. I will look though to make sure. Good luck again on the trip.

Thanks to all who’ve sent photos and such already!

Keep ‘em coming! I finally learned how to post-date posts, so I can have them show up while I’m gone.
