Postcard from the Road
The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful…
…Or, so says, Jimmy Buffett. But actually, that’s a pretty good start to this postcard from Portland, Oregon. As opposed to the stereotypical Pacific Northwest weather, it’s been beautiful the whole trip. Even down at the coast, the sun shone as we drove along.
The scenery up here is pretty spectacular, and after living for so long in CA, the amount of water available here is pretty mind boggling. I could spend days in the forests here, especially along the Pacific Crest.

You also never know who you’ll see up here. As we drove north along Highway 101, the elusive Sasquatch stuck out his thumb. Unfortunately, we had no room for him or we’d have gladly picked him up. Kat took his picture as we drove by, though.

Anyway, more to come soon… I hope. We’re off to the Willamette Valley wine country now.

if he is out of money, send him home

Right after we drove past, he dove into the bushes. I think there was a car with Mississippi plates behind us… probably thought it was you.

I see you’re in our neck of the woods. Heading to Central Oregon, or just enjoying the ‘other side’?

Beautiful waterfall picture. Looks like you’re in some beautiful country.
As for Sasquatch, don’t you know he’s in the UP of Michigan. In fact some yahoos are mounting an expedition to track him down. I’m guessing your guy is an imposter.

Kristine, if you check out http://www.oregonbigfoot.com/database.php#national and search both Oregon and Michigan, you’ll find we SOOOO have you in the sightings category.

Heya, Gurl…
We’re mostly tooling around Portland and such. Tried to hit the Willamette Valley wineries, but totally got my directions screwed up (read, forgot to ask for directions) and ended up not making it to the wineries until closing time. Got to taste a couple, but missed the big ones I’d hoped to hit.
Gonna hit downtown tomorrow for the Blues fest (I hope), and then back to CA on Sunday morning.

Good report and nice pictures. The Sasquatch is a protected species here in British Columbia. I am not kidding you! Oregon is a beautiful place and you’re actually not far from my home, it’s only a half hour to the U.S. border from here. From our house we can see Mount Baker. If you have time hop over the border and stop in for a coffee at my house.

Othmar, we probably won’t be driving that far north on this trip, but this will definitely not be my last trip to the Pacific Northwest. Still wanna see more of Washington, and B.C. is high on the list too.
Thanks for the invite…I’ll take you up on it one day.

One Gurl,
O.k., you got us. I’m actually o.k. with that. I vacation in the Upper Peninsula on occasion, and an encounter with Bigfoot isn’t high on my list of things to do while I’m there.
So, you guys can have him.
